Police Man
The Policeman came to visit us at school. He told us about all the different jobs he does, like helping to keep people safe on the roads, and making sure people are obeying the law. He showed us all his equipment he carries and told us about how he uses them. He showed us his car with the lights flashing and put his siren
Fire Fighters - Our Heroes
Fire Fighters came to talk to us about the work they do. They work as a team and they have to be fit and strong to fight fires. When their siren sounds they have to get dressed and jump into their fire truck as fast as they can, so they can get to a fire quickly. The boss said how
important it is for his team to be honest and to use common sense so the team can work at their best. The clothes they wear
are fireproof so they don't get burnt. They wear helmets to protect their heads in a burning building. They carry oxygen tanks and use oxygen masks, so they can breathe in a smoke filled, burning building. Their equipment is heavy. This is Mrs Sharma wearing all the fire-fighting gear. Fire fighters do lots of other jobs, too. They can help to rescue people out of crashed cars with their special equipment, or they can even rescue animals. Their truck's have enormous ladders on them to rescue people up high in a burning building. Fire fighters help to keep us safe.

Felix Huber's Uncle - Bee Expert
Felix's Uncle Raymond visited our school on the 7th of May, to talk to us about bees. Raymond looks after bees and he has written a book about bees. He told us very interesting things about bees. We found out that bees die after they sting something. We found out that honey is kept fresh in the hive because the bees put wax all around it to store it away. We enjoyed finding out that the bees can be guards of their hive and they can kick wasps away. Also, we learnt that the girl bees kick the boy bees out of the hive near winter time, so the girls bees can share enough food for the baby bees in the hive. Raymond showed us the clothes he needs to wear when he works with the bees. He showed us his bee smoke canister to help the bees to not sting him, when he gets close to their hive. Raymond is an expert on bees and we asked him lots of interesting questions.
The Boat Trip On the Polaris II
Hundreds of shag birds flew past us. The boat travelled near to Quarantine Island. The men dredged the bottom of the harbour and we discovered the creatures that live on the ocean floor. We really enjoyed our day.

The Creatures We Found In The Ocean
The men dredged the ocean floor and we discovered some of the creatures that live there. We found baby flounders, starfish, shellfish and crabs. It was amazing to look at them.
